West Avon Flats
Charming, or cringeworthy? Art Deco can be divisive! The Category II heritage West Avon Flats are a relatively restrained example of this instantly recognisable style, interesting to fans and critics alike.
The West Avon Flats have architectural and aesthetic significance as a 1930s Art Deco complex of apartments designed by local architect Wilford Melville Lawry (1894-1980). The two-storey building with additional penthouse on the roof, has a symmetrical entrance façade, bold geometric detailing and steel framed casement windows.
