Margaret Mahy Family Playground
The Margaret Mahy Playground is an all-ages, all-abilities playground that has quickly become an integral part of the Central City. It’s the perfect place to catch up with old friends - or make some new ones!
With separate activity zones for different ages, the playground is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.
The playground features a unique mix of play equipment, interactive spaces, gardens, artwork and water features. There's a 4 metre wide slide, double flying fox, water cannons, splash pad, sand play, dunes, climbing web and a story arc that features tales from Christchurch authors Margaret Mahy and Elsie Locke.
There are recreational and picnic areas, visitor parking, and public facilities to be used and enjoyed by children and adults alike. There are also food carts and a place for parents to grab their coffee. This playground is a magical place.
