Canterbury Museum
Experience New Zealand’s rich cultural and natural heritage at the Canterbury Museum.
Rare Maori artefacts and the stories behind them will fascinate you. The Christchurch Street transports you back in time with the sights and sounds of pioneering days.
Clothing and accessories from yesteryear are joined by decorative art treasures in the Mountfort and Asian Art Galleries. Our Antarctic Gallery celebrates the heroic age of discovery and exploration, and Living Canterbury offers the chance for visitors to explore how Cantabrians live.
Children will enjoy hands-on fun at Discovery, our natural history centre. Frequent special exhibitions and Museum Store and Café onsite. Price: Free admission; donations appreciated. Entry to Discovery is $2.00 per person. Under 3 years free.
