Music Is My Friend - Flare Street Art Festival
Street artist Kophie Hulsbosch – AKA Meep – is emblematic of the street art scene in Ōtautahi Christchurch.
"My concept was a reflection of my roots in graffiti and the inspiration of hip hop in my artwork and life. I used two of the most iconic symbols of hip hop Mf Doom & Wutang, as well as the Kangol hat and the backpack as symbols of hip hop. Her headphones are plugged into a 90’s nostalgic music/tv box with vinyls, vcr e.t.c to represent old school hip hop and pre-internet. I decided to make the tv character a person to represent music as a friend that hangs out with you through the good and the bad times"
